What is the history of U-M’s relationship with LEO?

U-M and LEO have a long-standing and productive relationship since LEO’s inception in 2003. Since then, the parties have achieved six contracts.

How many Lecturers are in the LEO bargaining unit?

  • The entire bargaining unit’s distinct headcount for all three campuses is approximately 1,730.
  • Approximately 1250 are employed on the Ann Arbor campus.
  • LSA employs the most lecturers with approximately 550. 
  • Dearborn and Flint follow with approximately 250 and 220 respectively.
  • Engineering employs approximately 150.

When will negotiations begin?

The parties begin negotiations on October 27, 2023.

When does LEO’s current contract end?

LEO’s current contract expires on April 20, 2024. 

What issues are typically discussed during negotiations?

Negotiations are specific to the bargaining unit and include topics such as wages, benefits, working hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
