TITLE: UTILITY SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN II  GRADE: E2
 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

To coordinate the operation of the utilities management systems; and to maintain the operating integrity of computerized utility management systems.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect and test new systems, alterations, or equipment additions to assure proper functioning.
Design, maintain and review log sheets on system operations and performance.
Perform console programming and systems back-up activities.
Train Technicians in the use and application of the utility management system.
Monitor, evaluate and initiate improvements to the operation of utility management.
Operate the computerized utility management console and initiate corrective action for all alarm indications and other malfunctions.
Coordinate staff for maintenance and repair activities during shut down and start up times.
May coordinate the work of Utility Systems Technician I’s or other assigned assistants.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

General supervision is received from a designated official. 
May receive direction from Utility Systems Technician – Health Systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school, supplemented by two years of technical course work or training in electronics, computer operations or instrumentation systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Reasonable experience in the operation and maintenance of automated heating, ventilation and air conditioning control systems is necessary.
Considerable experience in maintaining logs and records for utility systems is necessary.
Considerable computerized utility systems operation experience is desirable.
