TITLE: LEAD SECURITY/COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER GRADE: S7

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
To coordinate security and communications staff in the provision of security services.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a workgroup leader in the provision of security and communication/dispatch activities and services.
Provide advice and guidance to public safety staff regarding unit activities and operations.
Coordinate a public safety functional activities such as fleet/equipment maintenance, staff training, mobile patrol, communications training, Field Officer Training or related program.
RELATED DUTIES
Perform the characteristic duties and responsibilities of a Security Officer or Communications Officer.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from a security supervisor or other designated official.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Functional supervision may be exercised over Security Officers, Communications Officers and other support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary; a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice is desirable.
Reasonable knowledge of police, fire and safety procedures is necessary.
Reasonable experience in security or communications/dispatch is necessary.
