TITLE: PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER GRADE: S2

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
To patrol University parking facilities; report equipment and facilities in need of repair; and to issue citations for violation of parking ordinances.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patrol University parking lots, structures and streets, on foot or using a motor vehicle, for vehicles in violation of parking ordinances.
Issue citations for vehicles in violation of parking ordinances.
Authorize the removal of vehicles by towing from fire lanes or when blocking traffic.
Direct traffic in emergencies or at University events.
Answer complaints on broken traffic control signs, meters and gates and report required repairs.
Assist the public by providing information, directions and making change.
Prepare reports on citations issued.
Collect coins deposited in meters and set meter clock mechanisms.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Supervision is received from a designated official; no supervision is exercised.

QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Some knowledge of traffic control and parking regulations is necessary.
Some experience in clerical or service work is necessary; experience as a parking enforcement officer is desirable.
Ability to operate a motorized vehicle and possession of a valid State of Michigan driver's license is necessary.
