TITLE: EDUCATIONAL NURSE COORDINATOR GRADE: N3
 

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

To design and implement unit, clinical-area or Hospital orientation and in-service education programs; to assess and meet the orientation and in-service educational needs of nursing staff; and to assist in the design and implementation of staff development programs.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify and assess the needs of unit nursing staff for orientation and in-service educational programs.
Investigate, design, evaluate and modify as necessary orientation and in-service education programs.
Conduct individualized and group learning programs for nursing staff.
Assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical area and hospital-wide orientation, in-service education, and staff development programs.
Provide consultation in the area of clinical and educational expertise to nursing staff and students.
Provide direct patient care to demonstrate the clinical nursing role

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from a Head Nurse, Coordinator of Educational Services, or other designated official.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Functional supervision may be exercised over Clinical Nurses I and II, LPN's, Allied Health, Service/Maintenance and other support staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.
Two or more years nursing experience, as an R.N. is necessary.
Some teaching experience in nursing is desirable.
This position requires Primary Source Verification.
