Vaccinating a patient while they are in our care is an underutilized opportunity to enhance their health and the health of the community. UMHS influenza vaccination performance was greatly impacted by the need to redesign the work with MiChart implementation. There was much to learn about assessing for eligibility, ordering, and administering the vaccine as we got to the root cause to improve patient influenza vaccination rates in the Inpatient setting. The team utilized lean and six sigma tools to improve the process and improve the health of our community.
