Return to Work programs have been established in Campus and Health System departments to provide a consistent and coordinated approach to return to work.
- Work Connections serves as a starting point for return to work by communicating medical progress to departments. Illnesses are reported to Work Connections.
- Work Connections tracks the staff member’s progress and informs the department when the staff member can return to work with temporary medical restrictions.
- The department, in cooperation with the Return to Work coordinator, attempts to locate transitional work or identify modified duty work for the employee. The employee returns to transitional work.
- When indicated by the employee’s physician, the employee returns to his or her regular job duties.
A typical transitional assignment lasts about 90 days and may be discontinued if you need a longer period of recovery, if your restrictions change or are lifted, or if the work is no longer available.
