Meet with your mentee or developing leaders to teach them different ways to break goals into processes. Explain the process, demonstrate it, then ask them to try. Before the meeting, ask them to bring a goal to work through.

Meet individually with direct reports to confirm their commitment to the direction and prioritized goals of your unit.

Lead strategic planning at a community or professional organization.

Develop a personal list of goals and priorities, and articulate why you have selected them and how you plan to reach them.
