We combined three tools to support faculty in tracking Classroom participation: 1) An email system for students to inform faculty of upcoming absences 2) An interactive seating chart for use with iPads, to track / display absence, track the quality of classroom participation, and select students for cold calls 3) A system using iPods equipped with barcode scanners, to quickly scan UM IDs for tracking attendance at large lectures and events. Administrators of this system can group events together and set minimum attendance requirements (i.e. 4 of 6) for students.
