"I never understood the reputation Flint has," writes Anna Swartz, faculty administrative assistant and School of Management alumni liaison on the UM-Flint campus.

"I was born and raised here and like most cites all over the world there are areas that aren't as appealing as others. This is my home and there are many parts I love that outsiders do not see. It goes back as far as my mom's family immigrating here from Liverpool, England to start a life in Flint. My granddad worked at AC Spark Plug and built a life here. I started UM-Flint in 2003, and I don't think I even applied to any other schools. I have a twin sister and we decided we would go to school together so we stayed in Flint. I was able to commute to school, work full time, still see my twin, and hang with friends.

"Right after I graduated I applied for a job at UM-Flint and was hired.

"I help with faculty and staff with any needs in our department, and help with students and visitors who visit the office. I also manage the front desk staff and work with alumni in keeping in touch with our department, making them aware of School of Management events and news.

"I've been here for 8 years and I love it. I love Flint, I love higher education, and I love that it is in my hometown. Working for the university I graduated from keeps the passion alive and helps me talk to others about the university and Flint."
