Ingredients
- 2 medium size bunches broccoli, large stalk removed, then cut into florets with a small stem attached (to look like little trees)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- dash of salt
Preparation
- Wash the broccoli submerged in water, then drain and shake or spin to slightly dry (a salad spinner works well). Fill the bottom of a large pot with about 1/2 inch of water. Place a steamer basket over the water in the pot. Place broccoli onto the steamer and bring the water to a boil. Cover and steam for approximately 3 minutes or until crisp-tender when pierced with a fork. Remove from heat and drain water from pot.
- While broccoli steams, remove the zest from a well-washed lemon with a grater. Set aside. Return empty pot to the stove over medium heat and add the olive oil, lemon zest and red pepper flakes. Add the broccoli and toss gently. Season with a dash of salt, if desired.
- When broccoli is hot - transfer to serving dish and enjoy!
