Broccoli with Miso Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons avocado oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, finely chopped
  • 8 cups broccoli florets (about 1 pound)
  • 3 Tablespoons water
  • 2 Tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoons reduced sodium tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or as desired

Preparation

  1. Warm oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring to season the oil and prevent burning. Add the broccoli and stir to coat the broccoli with the seasoned oil. Cook and keep stirring for about a minute, then add the water and cover the pan to allow the broccoli to steam for about 3 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the miso, honey, tamari, and sesame oil until fairly smooth. Add the sauce to the broccoli in the skillet and toss to coat. Continue to cook while stirring until sauce has reduced a bit and slightly thickened. Season with pepper. Enjoy!
