What is MHealthy Rewards? MHealthy Rewards is the University of Michigan’s annual incentive program. The Rewards program is free, voluntary and confidential. It encourages benefits-eligible faculty and staff to participate in health and well-being programs and rewards them with an incentive.
How do I participate in MHealthy Rewards 2020?
MHealthy Rewards 2020 includes two steps:
STEP 1: Register for Rewards by completing the 2020 StayWell health questionnaire January 14 – May 15.
STEP 2: Earn points by completing eligible activities – there’s plenty to choose from and something for everyone. Earn 100 points by June 12 to get a $100 reward!
Completing the health questionnaire in 2020 also qualifies benefits-eligible faculty and staff for an optional fitness membership reimbursement up to $120.
Is a screening part of the Rewards program in 2020?
No, MHealthy Rewards 2020 does not include a biometric screening and no blood pressure or cholesterol is required.
Who can participate in MHealthy Rewards?
Qualifying benefits-eligible faculty and staff can participate in MHealthy Rewards. To see if you are eligible, please see Rewards Eligibility and Payment webpage.
Retirees, spouses and other qualified adults, dependents, and temp staff are not eligible for Rewards.
Registration / Health Questionnaire
How do I access the 2020 health questionnaire?
Beginning January 14, 2020, you can register for MHealthy Rewards 2020 by accessing the health questionnaire by logging into the StayWell Portal using your U-M uniqname and Kerberos/Level 1 password.
You can also download the StayWell mobile app from the App Store or Google Play. Our company code is: BLUE
Registration closes on Friday, May 15, 2020, so please make sure to complete your health questionnaire by that date.
What if I need assistance in completing the health questionnaire?
For assistance with completing the health questionnaire, please call StayWell at (800) 543-6717, Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. ET, Friday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. ET, Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. ET.
What are the eligible activities for MHealthy Rewards 2020?
To view the entire list of Rewards-eligible activities, their point values, and completion criteria, log into the Staywell Portal. Once logged into the Portal, select the "Points Tracker" tab.
How does MHealthy know I am participating in an eligible activity?
If you are participating in any MHealthy eligible activity, like Active U, Mental & Emotional Health class, Chef Demonstration, etc., you will need to complete the activity as required. After you meet the completion criteria, MHealthy will provide you with an Activity Code. Log into the StayWell Portal and go to the specific program page of the activity you completed (for example, if you completed Active U, go to the Active U program page). Enter and submit your Activity Code.
If you are participating in any MHealthy-sponsored eligible activity, like WW (Weight Watchers), you need to complete the activity as required. MHealthy will then provide you with an Activity Code. Log into the StayWell Portal and go to the specific program page of the activity you completed. Enter and submit your Activity Code.
StayWell eligible activities will automatically be tracked and marked as complete within the StayWell Portal.

Please note: all Activity Codes need to be entered into the StayWell Portal by Friday, June 12, 2020.
How can I tell if I completed an activity?
To see if you completed an eligible activity, log into the Staywell Portal and click on Points Tracker to see if your activity is marked as completed.
Can I do more than one activity at a time?
Yes, you can participate in more than one eligible activity at the same time.
Is Active U part of MHealthy Rewards?
Yes, Active U 2020 is a Rewards-eligible activity and is worth 50 points. To participate in Active U, you must sign up by 5 p.m. ET, February 10.
I am working on a health behavior using an activity of my own. Does this qualify?
Yes, if you are working on a health behavior on your own, you can participate in the Your Choice Program, which allows you to receive credit for an activity you are doing. To learn more, log into the StayWell Portal, select the "Points Tracker" tab and scroll down the page to find ‘Your Choice Program.'
Is my information confidential?
Yes, information provided within the MHealthy Rewards program is treated as confidential. To protect your privacy, the University of Michigan has contracted with The StayWell Company, LLC, a national provider of health improvement services, to administer online programs, resources and the health questionnaire; and IncentFit to administer the Fitness Membership Reimbursement service.
The University of Michigan also utilizes a national leader in health care analytics and data management as its data warehouse vendor. Data are stored using unique unidentifiable codes that are created by the vendor. Those codes are not shared with University of Michigan employees or external parties.
Information that is collected will be used to process your incentive, evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and services (quality assurance), and contribute to scientific research. When used for evaluation and scientific research, only aggregate (group) data will be considered, with no personally identifiable information. This helps the university better understand the collective health of our faculty, staff and their families and to assist with planning future programs that address the needs of our community.
Your personally identifiable health data will not be shared with your manager, nor will it be added to any UM faculty or staff files. In addition, your information will not affect insurance coverage or benefits nor will they be disclosed to your insurance company.

How can I qualify for a reimbursement for my fitness membership?
To be eligible for the fitness membership reimbursement, you must complete the 2020 StayWell health questionnaire by May 15. Approximately two weeks after completing your 2020 StayWell health questionnaire, you will gain access to the IncentFit website. For the best user experience, we recommend using Chrome, Edge or Firefox browsers. IncentFit is the U-M vendor that administers the fitness membership reimbursement program.
How do I earn a fitness membership reimbursement?
Earn $12 for every month, January – October 2019, that you verify payment for a membership to a qualifying fitness center. Verify up to 10 months to earn up to $120. To verify payments, you must submit the required documentation to IncentFit.
What type of fitness facility memberships qualify?
The following types of fitness facilities are eligible for reimbursement:

Are family memberships eligible?
Yes, so long as the documentation submitted to IncentFit lists the eligible employee as a member on the family membership.
I have access to a facility where I live. Does this count?
Mandatory fees paid for a fitness facility as a part of a homeowners, subdivision, apartment complex, student tuition or the like is not considered payment of a fitness membership and would not be an eligible payment method accepted for the U-M program.
I have an online membership (BeachBody, Peloton, etc.) – does this count?
Yes, Streaming Fitness Memberships/Subscriptions are eligible for the 2020 program.
What if I have a free membership to a fitness facility?
Free memberships are not eligible for reimbursement, as verification of payment must be provided to IncentFit.
Where can my fitness facility be located?
Your fitness facility can be located anywhere in the United States.
Are class packages eligible?
No, paying for class packages is not eligible for the fitness membership reimbursement.
What is the deadline to submit documents?
All documentation must be submitted directly to IncentFit via the website or mobile app by Saturday, October 31, 2020. No exceptions will be allowed.
When and how will I receive my fitness membership reimbursement?
Reimbursements for your fitness membership will be paid in your U-M paycheck in July 2020 and/or December 2020. Please note:
- You must be an active, eligible employee as of June 30, 2020, to receive the July 2020 reimbursement
- You must be an active, eligible employee as of November 30, 2020, to receive the December 2020 reimbursement.
- If your employment status changes, your eligibility to participate and/or receive reimbursements may also change.
- You can only earn credit for the months you are employed at the University of Michigan.
Monetary Reward and Reimbursements
How and when will I receive my rewards and reimbursements?
The $100 Rewards incentive (for completing the health questionnaire and earning 100 points for completing eligible activities) will be paid before taxes within your U-M paycheck.
Fitness membership reimbursement payments will be paid before taxes in your July U-M paycheck and/or December U-M paycheck.
Where can I see my MHealthy Rewards payment?
To see your MHealthy Rewards payment, please log into Wolverine Access to view your paycheck or call the Shared Service Call Center at (734) 615-2000.
On your paycheck, you will see additional line items under the "Hours and Earnings" section entitled:
- "Rewards Payment” – Indicates your $100 payment for completing the health questionnaire and earning 100 points by completing eligible activities.
- “Fitness Membership Reimburse” – Indicates your fitness membership reimbursement.
If the payment shows up in the YTD (year to date) column, then these payments have already been processed on a previous paycheck. If it is in the Current column, then your payment has occurred on the paycheck you are viewing.
What if I don't want to receive the monetary reward?
If you do not want to receive the reward, we suggest that you donate the incentive to a charity of your choice. Visit Leaders and Best giving website for possible areas to donate.
