2022 Benefits Plan Rates

Each benefit plan has its own rate structure. You can view your individual monthly plan rates on Wolverine Access. Your rates will also be displayed in Benefits Enrollment during the Open Enrollment period.

View Your Rates on Wolverine Access

To view your 2022 benefits plan rates, go to Wolverine Access, click the Employee Self Service tile, click the Benefits tile, and then click the Benefits Display Benefit Plan Rates tile. Your 2022 rates will be displayed below your 2021 rates.

Wolverine Access supported browsers are Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Technical support for unsupported browsers or operating systems (e.g., Linux) is not available.

Health Plan Rates

Health plan rates for faculty and staff vary depending on the plan and coverage level you select and your annual salary. Click the Display Benefits Plan Rates tile under Benefits Self-Service on Wolverine Access to view your 2022 health plan rates. Use the Health Plan Rate Estimator if you do not have a uniqname or if you want to see how an appointment or salary change might impact your monthly health plan rates.

Retiree Health Plan Rates

The amount retirees pay and the amount the university pays toward retiree health benefits varies based on hire date, age, retirement date, years of service, eligibility for Medicare, coverage level, and the health plan selected.

You can view your individual 2022 monthly rates online through Wolverine Access (a uniqname and UMICH password are required). Enter Benefits in the search bar, click the Benefits Self-Service tile, and then click the Display Benefit Plan Rates tile. The 2022 rates will be displayed below the 2021 rates. Alternatively, you may review the charts below and the charts printed in your retiree Open Enrollment book that will be mailed to your home address on file at the end of September.

The following rates are effective January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022.

Retired before January 1, 2021: 2022 Retiree Health Plan Rate Charts by Date of Service and Retirement Date

Retired on or after January 1, 2021: 2022 Retiree Health Plan Rate Charts by Years of Service

If your service date is before January 1, 2013, you are age 62 or over, and you retired on or after January 1, 2021, the university contribution for retiree health benefits is based on your years of service at retirement.

If you retire under age 62 you will pay the full cost of benefits through the month you turn 62 in addition to the above schedule. Refer to Chart B.

Dental Plan Rates

For the following groups, you do not pay anything when you and your eligible dependents enroll in Option 1. The university pays the full cost. The university shares a portion of the cost if you enroll in Option 2 or Option 3.

  • Faculty and staff members
  • Retirees who retired before January 1, 1987
  • Retirees who were hired before July 1, 1988 and are any age
  • Retirees hired on or after July 1, 1988 and are age 62 and older
  • GEO members
  • GSRAs
  • Benefits-eligible fellowship holders

No University Contribution for Dental Coverage

The following groups have access to dental coverage but pay the full cost. There is no university contribution.

  • Medical School students
  • Leave of Absence
  • Reduction in Force
  • Retirees hired on or after July 1, 1988 who are under age 62 pay the full cost of benefits until they reach age 62.

COBRA participants pay the full cost for dental coverage plus a 2 percent administration fee.
