2018 Benefits Plan Rates

Each benefit plan has its own rate structure. Your individual monthly plan rates are displayed on Benefits Self Service on Wolverine Access when you enroll in benefits and when you select Display Benefits Plan Rates. 

View Your Rates on Wolverine Access

To view your benefits plan rates online:

  1. Go to Wolverine Access.
  2. Select Faculty & Staff > Employee Self-Service.
  3. Login using your uniqname and UMICH password.
  4. Click the Benefits tile.
  5. Under Benefits Summary Self Service, select Display Benefits Plan Rates. Your current rates will be displayed at the top; scroll down to view your 2018 rates.

Health Plan Rates

Health plan rates for faculty and staff vary depending on the plan and coverage level you select and your annual salary. See Benefits Summary Self Service on Wolverine Access to view your 2018 monthly health plan rates. 

Retiree Health Plan Rates

The amount that retirees pay and that the university pays towards retiree health benefits varies based on hire date, age, retirement date, eligibility for Medicare, coverage level, and health plan.  You can view your individual monthly rates online through Wolverine Access (a uniqname and UMICH password are required).

The following rates are effective January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018.

Dental Plan Rates

For the following groups, you do not pay anything when you and your eligible dependents enroll in Option 1. The university pays the full cost. The university shares a portion of the cost if you enroll in Option 2 or Option 3.

  • Faculty and staff members
  • Retirees who retired before January 1, 1987
  • Retirees who were hired before July 1, 1988 and are any age
  • Retirees hired on or after July 1, 1988 and are age 62 and older
  • GEO members
  • GSRAs
  • Benefits-eligible fellowship holders

No University Contribution for Dental Coverage

The following groups have access to dental coverage but pay the full cost. There is no university contribution. See the COBRA section for dental plan rates when you are under COBRA coverage.

  • Medical School students
  • Leave of Absence
  • Reduction in Force
  • Retirees hired on or after July 1, 1988 who are under age 62 pay the full cost of benefits until they reach age 62.

  • $8.38 for you only ($8.55 for COBRA)
  • $13.08 for you plus one dependent ($13.34 for COBRA)
  • $22.72 for you plus two or more dependents ($23.17 for COBRA)

Legal Plan Rates

$8.34 per month for you only and $13.34 per month for you plus one or more dependents.
