The Rivals Challenge: Q and A with Dr. Robert Winfield

On Friday, May 27 at 12 p.m., Dr. Robert Winfield, Chief Health Officer, will lead a short walk around campus. All are welcome to join! Get the heart pumping while racking up exercise minutes toward beating Ohio State! Walk starts at noon in front of University Health Services (UHS).

To help Rivals Challenge participants keep moving and logging their minutes, we've asked leaders from across U-M how they stay motivated!

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” – Mark Twain

Q: What do you do to stay healthy?

A: I walk whenever I can, and eat healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. I always have one or two servings of fruit in the morning and at least one vegetable at dinner. I keep my weight under control, and try to keep my BMI between 24-25.

Q: Why is your health and well-being important to you?  

A: I really enjoy life and want to live a long time, and see my children marry and have children.

Q: What advice or inspiration do you have for others?

A: Find a personal reason to inspire your health. Having a strong reason to be healthy makes it more satisfying to do healthy activities and eating.
