Review What’s New for Open Enrollment 2025

It's coming! Open Enrollment for 2025 benefits will take place Monday, Oct. 21, through 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1. It’s a once-a-year opportunity to change your health, dental, vision and legal service plans. Benefits changes and new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2025.

No action is required to keep current benefits, except for Flexible Spending Accounts, which require re-enrollment each year.

What’s New in 2025

Consumer-Directed Health Plan/Health Savings Account

U-M has set the CDHP deductible at the minimum threshold allowed by the IRS to qualify for participation in a Health Savings Account (HSA). This saves participants money annually.

The 2025 CDHP deductible will be $1,650 individual/$3,300 family. The annual HSA maximum contribution for 2025 will be $4,300 individual/$8,550 family.

Health Care Flexible Spending Account

You can contribute $120 up to a maximum of $3,200 per calendar year to your Health Care FSA.

Optional Life Insurance Plan

Eligible members have a one-time opportunity to enroll in or increase their coverage in the Optional Life Insurance Plan. A health statement will be required when increasing coverage higher than $650,000 or requesting to increase coverage more than 1 times salary.

Legal Services Plan

The following services will be added to the Legal Services Plan at no additional cost:

  • Divorce, dissolution and annulment (contested and uncontested)    
  • Custody order    
  • Enforcement or modification of support order

Vision Plan

  • The allowance for eyeglass frames and contact lenses will increase from $130 to $200.
  • Monthly plan premiums will decrease by about 10%.

  • Resources are available to help you find the health plan that works best for you.
  • Update your address through Wolverine Access by selecting Employee Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses > Current Local.
  • Check your beneficiary designations for your U-M life insurance and retirement savings plan accounts.
