Open Enrollment is an annual opportunity for faculty, staff, retirees and benefits-eligible graduate students to change their health plan, dental plan option, vision plan, and/or legal services plan enrollment, if eligible.
Faculty and staff may also add eligible dependents to their coverage, remove ineligible dependents, and enroll in a Health Care and/or a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account. Changes go into effect on January 1.
Open Enrollment for 2020 benefits begins on October 21 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on November 1, 2019. You will make benefits changes, if any, through Benefits Self Service on Wolverine Access during the Open Enrollment period. Retirees may make changes online or by completing and sending in the benefits enrollment form that will be included in materials mailed in early October. Changes and new rates go into effect on January 1.
The Benefits Office encourages you to review the benefits plan choices and decide if different options or coverage are needed for next year. However, no action is required to keep your current benefits for 2020, unless you want to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). IRS regulations do not allow FSA enrollments to carry over from one year to the next and you will need to re-enroll if you want to participate in 2020.
