Make Your Changes Through Wolverine Access Beginning October 23

The university encourages you to review your current benefits and decide if you want different choices for next year. If so, you will make your 2018 elections through Wolverine Access beginning Monday. October 23, 2017 and complete your submission by 5:00 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday, November 3, 2017. Changes will go into effect on January 1, 2018.

If you are happy with your current benefits, you do not need to do anything to keep them through 2018, with two exceptions:

  1. If you are enrolled in the HAP health plan, you will need to choose a different U-M health plan during Open Enrollment, or you will be automatically enrolled in the BCBSM Community Blue PPO plan effective January 1.
  2. If you are enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account FSA), you will need to re-enroll if you want to participate in 2018. IRS rules do not allow FSA enrollments to cross calendar years.
    • Enroll in an FSA through Wolverine Access during Open Enrollment, or
    • Enroll by completing and submitting a paper 2018 FSA enrollment form by December 1, 2017 to have your health care FSA funds available for reimbursement beginning January 1, 2018. The form will be available for download from UHR website after November 3. Paper FSA enrollment forms will be accepted until December 31, 2017, however your account will not be set up with PayFlex and available for reimbursement until February 1, 2018. You may incur eligible health care expenses in January, but you may not use your PayFlex Card to pay for them. You will need to pay out of pocket and then submit a claim for reimbursement after February 1.
