Webinars and online workshops are a great way to learn about financial topics. Many are in real-time, but can also be viewed on demand so you’ll never miss a word. Fidelity and TIAA will offer the following events in February/March:

Fidelity, one of U-M’s partners in administering its Retirement Savings Plans, will host a special series of financial education webinars as part of its Black History Month recognition.

Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, best-selling author, entrepreneur and educator, will host “How to manage money, deal with debt, and create a financial legacy” Thursday, Feb. 16, from 2-3 p.m. This free, livestreamed webinar will feature a panel of specialists, who will discuss real-life ways to build wealth. 

Aliche also hosts Brown Ambition, an award-winning podcast, and created the Live Richer Academy to help women achieve financial goals. She is featured in Netflix’s “Get Smart with Money” documentary.

Aliche will discuss:

  • How to prepare for a short- and long-term financial future
  • How to save more money today
  • How to create a financial legacy for future generations

TIAA

  • Make the Move Toward Long-Term Financial Security
    Wednesday, Feb. 15, from noon-1 p.m.
    Are you halfway or more down the road to retirement? Check in to make sure your plan is on track. 
  • Hindsight is 20/20
    Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 3-4 p.m.
    A look back at 2020 and the lessons learned during this unique time. Topics include the value of advice, following a disciplined risk management strategy and the role lifetime income can play in a sound financial plan.

If you want to plan for a prosperous retirement, start by occasionally checking in with Fidelity and TIAA. Meet with a strategist virtually, by phone or in person. Evolving technology allows Fidelity and TIAA representatives to screen share so you can see your account information.

Financial Help at MHealthy

MHealthy also offers several resources to assist faculty and staff with improving their financial well-being. These include education programs and resources, coaches, and immediate assistance for those who need help now.
