Music, Theatre, and Dance

The University Musical Society (UMS) has been bringing great performing artists to the University of Michigan campus for 127 years. UMS presents the very best from the full spectrum of the performing arts -- internationally renowned recitalists and orchestras, dance and chamber ensembles, jazz and world music performers, opera and theater. Each year UMS hosts over 75 performances and 100 educational events and also commissions new work from composers, choreographers, and playwrights. For more information, visit the Web at http://www.ums.org.

The School of Music offers many free concerts by orchestras, choirs, bands, and faculty and student chamber ensembles and soloists. Fully-staged productions of opera, drama, musical theatre, and dance are presented each fall and winter term in the Trueblood Theatre, Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, and the Power Center for the Performing Arts, under the direction of faculty and visiting artists. Student-directed productions are presented in the Arena Theatre by Basement Arts.

The School publishes a Calendar of Events and current information is available on the 24-Hour Music Line, (734) 763-4726. Season schedules and tickets for School of Music Theatre, Opera Theatre, Musical Theatre, and University Dance Company are available at the Michigan League Ticket Office, (734) 764-2538.
