The University of Michigan will be a smoke-free campus starting July 2011

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

SMOKE-FREE UNIVERSITY STEERING COMMITTEE

The Smoke Free Campus Steering Committee will:

  1. Seek input from students, staff and faculty through both dialogue and survey instruments.

  2. Identify best practices at other peer institutions and organizations that have become smoke free.

  3. Identify recommendations to sponsors including the pros and cons.

  4. Communicate with the campus members regarding this issue.

The scope will include the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses.


CO-CHAIRS

The team will be co-chaired by Kenneth Warner, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Dr. Robert Winfield, Chief Health Officer for the University of Michigan and Director of University Health Service.

Facilities, Grounds & Ann Arbor Interface Subcommittee:
Bill Bess, Special Advisor to the Assoc. Vice President of Facilities & Operations

Guest, Events & Athletics Subcommittee:
Gloria Hage, Assoc. Vice President and Deputy General Counsel
