UHR Mission and Vision
UHR Confidentiality Statement

Academic Human Resources
Academic Human Resource administers and provides consultation related to Academic Human resource programs, policies and procedures for Instructional and Primary staff as well as Education Assistants. AHR also is responsible for union contract issues and processes.

Benefits Office
The Benefits Office administers the University's benefits programs, such as medical, life and dental insurance as well as the Long Term Disability, travel accident insurance, and Retirement programs.

Building Great Places to Work
This web resource is offered as a site to reflect on, discuss, change, and celebrate the places we work. Its goal is to enhance work climates throughout the University by providing resources, tools, and success stories, as well as giving  the campus community an outlet for submitting successes to be shared on the site

Career Services for Staff
In an effort to make the University of Michigan Staff Development Philosophy a living presence that guides all activities relating to career development, Career Services has developed a coordinated system of career development services geared for University staff. This web-based resource site is a first step, and is designed to assist you with developing your own plan of action, introduce you to University and Internet resources and services, and provide regular updates on news and events that may be of assistance to you as you go through the process.

Compensation and Classification
The Compensation and Classification Office is responsible for developing compensation programs, policies, and approaches that meet the unique needs of our academic and business units as they attract, retain, motivate, develop, classify and organize their diverse work forces.

Dearborn Human Resources
The Dearborn Office of Human Resources offers full service support in the areas of training, consultation with employees and administrators about University policy as well as organizational/workplace situations, benefits, compensation and union contract administration.

Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FASAP)
FASAP counselors will help you explore problem areas which affect your well-being such as crisis resolution, emotional concerns (depression, anxiety) family/marital/partner concerns, financial matters, alcohol and drug abuse, child/adolescent development, interpersonal conflicts within the workplace, traumatic loss and other situations that can be difficult to manage.

Flint Human Resources
The Flint Office of Human Resources offers full service support in the areas of training, consultation with employees and administrators about University policy as well as organizational/workplace situations, benefits, compensation and union contract administration.

Health System Human Resources
Health System Human Resources offers full service support in the areas of training, consultation with employees and administrators about University policy as well as organizational/workplace situations, benefits, compensation and union contract administration.

HR Strategy and Planning
Executives in HR Strategy and Planning provide vision, leadership and direction for the units in UHR. Laurita Thomas serves as Associate Vice President of Human Resources.

HR Communications
HR Communications provides comprehensive professional communications services for the units in UHR.

HR/Payroll Service Center
The HR/Payroll Service Center combines the resources of the following offices:

HR Academy’s goal is to offer training and support for most types of HR educational needs.

Human Resource Records and Information Services (HRRIS)
HRRIS maintains and manages records and information for the University of Michigan community.

Human Resource Development (HRD)
HRD provides a comprehensive array of professional development programs, courses, and services to help meet the educational and training needs of University employees.

Kids Kare At Home
Kids Kare at Home is a Work/Life Resource Center program to help families at the University of Michigan who have sick children or who need back-up emergency care for times when regular child care is not available.

Mediation Services for Faculty and Staff
Mediation Services provides informal, confidential, neutral consultation to faculty and staff regarding workplace concerns. Mediation Services also provides formal dispute mediation services conducted by trained third-party mediators.

Michigan Healthy Community
MHealthy is a University-wide effort to encourage healthier living through increased activity, attention to physical safety in the workplace, and other health and wellness efforts. It aims to promote discussion and motivate commitment to well-being by embracing health as a community. The initiative was announced in 2004 by President Coleman to promote the health and well-being of the U-M community and advance public discussion and social commitment to change by developing, testing, and studying efforts to improve community wellness.  In Jan. 2007, President Coleman made the program a long-range feature of the university with campus-wide involvement of faculty and staff and an administrative home in UHR. Office of Institutional Equity
Office of Institutional Equity is a newly created office that developed from merging the Office for a Multicultural Community and the Sexual Harassment Policy Office. OIE serves as a vital resource and leader in promoting and furthering the University’s commitment to diversity and equal opportunity for all members of its community by providing training and consultation services to Faculty, staff and administrators related to issues of discrimination or harassment on the basis of protected categories (e.g. race, gender, etc.).

Recruiting and Employment Services
Recruiting and Employment Services administers the Promotional Openings Program (job postings), assists units in recruitment, including at the executive level, conducts career counseling for staff and administers the job placement for staff affected by reductions in force (RIF).

Staff Human Resources
Staff Human Resources provides advice and assistance to employees, supervisors and administrators on a wide-range of university policy and, conducts supervisory training programs and administers staff salary and job classification programs.

Temporary Staffing Services
Information for units employing temporary employees.

UM ID Office (Mcard)
The Mcard is the University of Michigan's single-card program that combines many features including identification, library privileges, building access, meal plans, and debit card all on one card.

Work/Life Resource Center (WLRC)
WLRC helps UM students, faculty and staff locate resources and make suitable care arrangements for their family members (young children and/or elderly or disabled relatives). WLRC also provides educational programs on parenting and eldercare topics.
