Mental health problems are common. We all deal with problems in daily living from time to time. At some point, we are likely to also have more serious emotional problems or concerns. And it is estimated that approximately one in five Americans will personally experience a diagnosable mental illness in their lifetime.

Therefore, there is a very good chance that you know and work with someone who has a mental health problem or concern. The presence of mental health problems can affect the work environment in many ways. It is important that we find ways to create positive and supportive work environments and to intervene early and effectively when problems arise.
