Get Fit and Win Prizes – Sign Up for Active U 2009!

Registration for Active U, the ten-week physical activity challenge and charity fundraiser for all fitness levels, is now open! Last year, nearly 10,000 U-M faculty, staff, graduate students and retirees logged over 11 million physical activity minutes, raised more than $23,000 for charity, and took control of their health by participating in Active U.
This year's challenge features some exciting improvements including:
- Expanding from eight weeks to 10 weeks
- More weekly and grand prizes, including gym memberships, iPods and gift certificates
- Teams can now compete in divisions of 50, allowing more opportunities for friendly competition and team winners
Participants also get free access to U-M recreation centers during the program and have the opportunity to support some worthwhile charities by donating funds during enrollment.
Register for Active U at www.MHealthy.umich.edu by February 3.
Active U runs February 3 – April 14.

MHealthy GOOD CHOICE Food Guide Identifies Healthier Dining Choices on Campus
Grabbing healthy food on the go at a restaurant or café at the University of Michigan just got a lot easier. University Unions, in conjunction with the MHealthy program, has published “Your MHealthy Good Choice Food Guide,” identifying healthier choices available at various eateries on campus and at the Health System. From Beanster’s to the University Club, Wendy’s to Taco Bell Express, this guide lists GOOD CHOICE menu items that meet the MHealthy Nutrition Guidelines.
MHealthy Nutrition Guidelines use specific recommendations for total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sugar, sodium and fiber depending on the food category. These guidelines were developed by registered dietitians from the University of Michigan.
