FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY |
| To
cover boilers, pipes, tanks, ducts and refrigeration units with
insulating materials to reduce heat transfer, prevent moisture
condensation and deaden sound. |
| CHARACTERISTIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
Spread
cement, magnesium oxide, mastic asbestos or similar adhesive-insulating
material on pipe or equivalent surface.
Measure and cut solid insulating material and covering, using
rule, hacksaw, power saw and shears.
Fit insulating materials and covering around pipe or equipment
and secure them using wire, twine, staples, metal bands and hand
tools.
Spread cement over insulating materials to protect them and provide
a smooth finish.
Clean pipe or equipment to be insulated with cloth or brush.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and job specifications.
Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended.

Graduation
from high school.
Considerable knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials
used in the insulation of pipes and equipment.
Considerable experience in the insulation of pipes and equipment.
Reasonable physical strength and dexterity.
Ability to observe safety precautions in the operation of power
equipment.
Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding. |
